AI Content Repurposing for RedNote (Xiaohongshu): How One Strong Post Becomes Multi-Platform Content

Key takeaways

  • Reposting the same post on several platforms usually performs poorly. Repurposing means rewriting the content for each platform's habits.
  • Xiaohongshu readers often arrive by search with a question; short-video viewers decide in the first seconds; WeChat readers will read a long article. The same idea is written three different ways.
  • Repurposing starts from a complete source post and its original material. What AI does best is turn that source into a first draft for each platform.
  • Keep some content native to each platform, or the account starts to feel like a repost account.

If you run an account alone, making one decent post a day is already hard. Writing something original for three platforms every day is not realistic, so repurposing makes sense. The question is how to do it.

Why straight reposting performs poorly

A post that does well on Xiaohongshu usually works because of details made for Xiaohongshu: vertical images, search terms in the title, the pain point in the first lines, and a question at the end to invite comments.

Move it unchanged to a short-video platform or WeChat and those details stop working. Readers notice that it "feels like a Xiaohongshu post". Repurposing is not copy and paste; it is telling the same content again in the way each platform expects.

Three platforms, three ways of writing

  • Xiaohongshu (RedNote): readers often come from search with a specific question. Put keywords in the title, use vertical images, and write the body as a list of points.
  • Short video: people scroll fast, so state the conflict or conclusion in the first three seconds and plan the script second by second.
  • WeChat articles: readers are willing to spend time, so the title can be calmer and the body uses subheadings to explain the idea fully.

One piece of information might be point seven on Xiaohongshu and only the opening line of a short video. If your three versions could be swapped without anyone noticing, you have not really rewritten them for each platform.

Start with a complete source post

Many repurposing attempts fail because all that is left is a cover screenshot, without the original images, comments or engagement numbers. Ask AI to turn that into a video script and it can only guess.

Before you repurpose, try to have: the original images, the caption and tags, the comments, the engagement numbers and the source link. When you save a post with the Beav browser extension, all of these go into the knowledge base together. The Xiaohongshu AI toolkit page shows how capture, organizing, writing and images connect.

How to do it in Beav

The Beav manuscript editor can turn one source draft into "publishing packages" for different platforms. There are three today: Xiaohongshu image post, WeChat article and spoken video script. The spoken script is a general short-video script you can use on Douyin, WeChat Channels and similar platforms.

The steps:

  1. Pick the source. Choose the post with the most information and the most follow-up questions in the comments, not necessarily the one with the best numbers.
  2. Pull out three things. What facts does it cover? Which point do readers react to most? What questions in the comments are still unanswered?
  3. Generate a draft per platform. In the manuscript, generate the Xiaohongshu, WeChat and spoken-script versions and compare the three drafts side by side.
  4. Edit by hand. AI versions often share the same sentence patterns, so change them until they differ. Most of the "catchy lines" AI adds on its own can go.

Images and files can be sent to your phone with "Share to phone": on the same Wi-Fi, scan the QR code to save them, then publish in each platform's app. Beav does not publish to Xiaohongshu or Douyin for you; publishing is your step.

Repurposing has limits

The biggest side effect of repurposing is that the account loses its native feel. If most content is moved over from other platforms, readers feel you are just reposting, and people who follow you on two platforms see the same thing twice.

A simple rule: keep at least one post a week on each platform that appears only there. For example, one Xiaohongshu post made only for Xiaohongshu, and one short video recorded on the spot. Its numbers may not be great, but it shows a real person is running the account.

Summary

How well repurposing works comes down to the quality of the source. If the source is incomplete, AI cannot fill the gaps. Prepare a complete source post, retell it for each platform, then edit it yourself. That is the most reliable approach.

To try it, download the Beav desktop app, take the post you are happiest with, and generate versions for three platforms to compare. The full workflow is in the 2026 Xiaohongshu AI marketing guide.
